We’re really pleased to say that the search for Chaffy is rapidly spreading to all corners of the globe, as Find Chaffy the book finds new publishers in a score of other countries! Confirmed so far are Denmark, Spain (spanish AND catalan), France and America, with Korea later in the year!

If you’re in France (published by Quatre Fleuves) or America (published by Barrons Educational) , Find Chaffy is already out! Spain (published by Random House Mondadori) follows in April, and Denmark (published by Forlaget Alvilda) in the autumn. All fully translated, even the title! (Xaffi, anyone?)

While Scholastic books have been well behind the search for Chaffies by publishing the Find Chaffy book here in the UK, we’re well aware the search is taking us all over the world, and the word needs to be spread! So we’re very pleased to announce that Find Chaffy will be published in the US by Barron’s Educational, at the end of this month!

If you’re the Americas and find a copy of the book at your local booksellers, do let us know! We’d love to see how far the news is spreading!

Not only that, but there are a load more countries lining up to publish Find Chaffy, we’ll let you know who’s doing it as soon as it’s confirmed!

The hunt for Chaffy CONTINUES!

The search for original Chaffies often goes cold, there were well over 30 out in the world at one time but we fear people are holding onto them instead of passing them on. But, we do hear from a lot of people making their own Chaffies, which is always wonderful to see! Do send in photos if you’ve made your own!

On a similar note, we’re always hearing from people who want to buy Chaffies. Sorry to say we don’t sell any yet, we have a few for promotion but tend to give them away in competitions every now and then. Obviously we’d love to be able to offer Chaffies for sale one day, hopefully soon!

Well it’s been a very exciting year in the search for Chaffies. We’ve had sightings in from Japan, America, all across Europe and even as far away as Australia! We’ve seen The Longest, Most Amazing Chaffy Journey Of All begin, in the form of our great online comic, just filled with amazing artists and always looking for more! We’ve seen some amazing Chaffy fanart, from Chaffy jewellery to dog hats, from felt Chaffies to beautiful Chaffy artwork. And even more than that, the very first Find Chaffy children’s book is now on sale, published by Scholastic Books. Filled with amazing picture searches and ridiculous adventures, it’s bringing a whole new audience to our search!

So what of next year? Well you can be sure of PLENTY more Chaffy sightings, those tricky little scamps do have a habit of getting themselves lost all over the place so it won’t be long before they’re spotted. We’ve also completed work on Find Chaffy book two, the fantastico sequel which’ll take our search to even crazier places! That’ll be on sale in the summer.

It is with great pride and a loud exhale of breath I can say I’ve just finished drawing Find Chaffy book two. I started this book about five months ago and have been working on it full-time (save for the trip to japan, and the occasional day/week for other work), so I can say I’m pretty chuffy to be done. There are still a few little additions to make to it, a bit of sorting out till the mid-december deadline, but now all the 48 pages are done and drawn, I can relax a little.

No of course I can’t. There’s far too much to be getting on with, and drawing big fiddly pictures isn’t done with me yet. I’m dead excited about showing everyone Find Chaffy book two, it mixes things up a bit from book one and takes it to a whole new level – and the final picture search is just ridiculous.

Find Chaffy 2 is released next summer.

Starting this monday, we have a whole tour of Chaffy in Japan! Checking out temples, eating sushi, wandering around disneyland and climbing mountains. Not to mention annoying samurai! So be sure to come back here on monday, for four days of japanamania!

Thanks to the very kind folk at Scholastic, we had a bundle o’ Chaffies turn up at our door the other week, all safely wrapped up and glad to find a home. So we thought, lets send them back out into the world to carry on their journey, and lets do this with a whole host of contests over the coming months for your chance to win one! Not only that, but if you win you’ll get a signed copy of the Find Chaffy book, along with stickers and a poster. And we may even have some runner-up prizes too!
So, for this contest, we’d LOVE to see some Chaffy cosplay. And, while cosplay would normally suggest making a full Chaffy costume, of course we’re not expecting anyone to go that far. By cosplay we mean anything wearable, so for example you could make a Chaffy hat, a Chaffy badge, Chaffy jewellery, Chaffy glasses…who knows? As long as it features our loveable little white Chaffy, and is something wearable, then we’d love to see it!

The Longest, Most Amazing Chaffy Journey Of All is an online comic telling the tale of one Chaffy’s ridiculously ridiculous journey through an endless array of random treats. Each panel is submitted by a different artist, so no one knows where Chaffy is going to end up next! Much though we want Chaffy to come home safely, it would be far more fun if his journey was literally endless, always being added to by new artists with new ideas!

Find Chaffy is a cute, silly, colourful adventure through a score of picture searches as you try to find all the Chaffies on their epic journey! It’s for all ages, and (hopefully) will take you quite a while to finish. Scholastic were incredible to work with and essentially let me draw whatever stupid things were in my head, so some of the things in the book are pretty random.

If you followed my blog at the time, you’ll know this was quite a big deal to get done in time for its deadline. Most of the work was done in just over two months around christmas last year, a frantic push to get ten highly-detailed picture searches (drawn at A2 size then shrunk) and the 28 story pages finished. Then I could tell you about the last minute dramas but hey, thats just part of the fun innit?

So that’s part of the reason I’m so proud of this book. It was the hardest I’ve worked, for probably the biggest project I’ve ever done. And to see Chaffy now reaching out to audiences around the world in this beautifully printed book, is a real buzz.
Lastly, dad passed away the very day after i finished work on Find Chaffy. So this book is dedicated to him.
